Team Canada captain Shane Doan
CAPTAIN Shane Doan led Team Canada to an IIHF World Hockey Championship last month.

Doan also made headlines over allegations that he had made derogatory comments about a French-Canadian referee. However, NHL officials declared he had been cleared of any wrongdoing well over a year ago.

One positive thing stressed in the media coverage was the fact that Doan is a committed Christian. In a recent issue of Faith & Friends,  the 30 year old captain of the Phoenix Coyotes credited his  Christian upbringing

“My dad is one of the godliest men I’ve ever met,” he said. “I grew up in the best family you could possibly have.”

His faith also helped him through a back injury. “You need to accept what God is doing in your life. You may have questions but you don’t let them consume your thoughts. You have to enjoy the blessings of every day.”
