System Principal

Due to the merging of our two schools, Surrey Christian School and Fraser Valley Christian High School are seeking a System Principal. This is a new position, created to carry out the mission and vision of our newly merged Pre-K - 12 school.

The candidate

The candidate will be a committed, imaginative and creative individual with a strongly rooted life of Christian faith and service, and possessing a solid understanding of the integration of faith and learning. S/he will be a highly seasoned administrator with a passion for and deep understanding of Christian education. Ideally an experienced educator, the candidate will have a related Bachelors and preferably a Masters degree.

S/he will be a recognized leader within a Christian community and be able to articulate a clear and powerful vision for Christian education. Communication and community building skills will be key assets, as will the ability to provide guidance and leadership to the Board and staff of the newly merged school. The candidate will be able to give evidence of an empowering, servant leadership management style, and will be adept at building consensus, excitement and an energized staff and community.

The challenge

The System Principal will build upon and continue the merger processes that have occurred over the past two years. As the lead within the education/management team, and as the primary Board contact, s/he will ensure the mission and vision of the school are carried out, and will guide the school and Board in developing and implementing a long term vision and plan.

Looking for synergies, consistency and continuing improvements in programs, processes and policies across the three campuses, s/he will continue to promote a full school operation and vision, working towards a seamless pre-K - Grade 12 system. In a time of challenging demographics and increasing options for students, s/he will create a context for innovation and boldly establish the school's presence and impact within the community both locally and globally.

The work of the system principal, alongside the senior leadership team, will include government and community relations, as well as building networks within the Christian education community, as well as development. S/he will provide skilled administrative leadership, streamlining and strengthening systems and processes and ensuring the continuing improvement of educational programs and extracurricular activities.

Volunteer/Client Development Coordinator

Duties overview: Manage client case portfolios; facilitate client development and interpersonal relations with clients, as well as coordinate Client/Volunteer Discipleship program. Duties & responsibilities will evolve as this new position develops.

• Coordinate, train, supervise and encourage Bridges volunteers for the effective case management of clients in the field
• Encourage and improve regular volunteer record keeping and reporting
• Maintain an accurate and intentional case management file for every client who comes to Bridges Kelowna Complex, including Safe House residents
• Provide transportation for offenders' appointments, food bank, social & recreational events, Overcomers' and church etc., delivery of furniture)

Custodian

We are seeking a custodian with a heart and passion for a clean, safe and well maintained environment. The successful candidate will process a multitude of skills and abilities and will have a thorough knowledge of cleaning techniques and general maintenance. • Post-retreat cleanup: vacuuming, dusting, making beds, doing laundry, etc.

Overview:

The Pastor to Families and Children will provide pastoral support for young families and leadership to the Children's ministry.

Position:

This is a full-time salaried position.

Qualifications:

A clear calling to full-time, church ministry, knowing God has gifted you to pastor families.
Significant church or Para-church experience working within a Family and Children's ministry context.

Seminary degree preferred, Bible college degree accepted.

Overall responsibility:

The overall responsibility of the Pastor to Families and Children is to provide pastoral leadership to young families within the church and to impact families in the community through creative networks of social and spiritual opportunities. The Pastor to Families and Children will also provide comprehensive leadership to the ministry to children from birth up to and including grade 5.

Specific Responsibilities:

A. Encourage and assist families in their spiritual journey and help families assimilate into the church body.
1 Provide pastoral leadership to families in PFBC.
2 Expand our present ministry to families to include opportunities to educate, support, and connect the parents of the children within this ministry area.
3 Provide pastoral care to the families at PFBC: (including but not limited to the following)
    • Meet the spiritual needs of young married and parents with children in Kidz Ministry.
    • Encourage relationships among existing and new parents of children connected to the Kidz ministry. Provide educational opportunities (retreats, adult classes, etc) for this group.
    • Enhance relationship building opportunities for young families connected with PFBC.

B. Shepherd and provide direction for volunteers involved in the children's ministry.
Minister to the spiritual needs of our children through weekend, midweek, and seasonal activities, equip gifted teachers to instruct our children, and giving special attention to the selection or development of a bible-saturated curriculum that is consistent with our statement of faith.
Continue to develop a volunteer leadership team who will serve as a leadership structure for the children's ministry.
Provide intentional regular communication, primarily with parents, through a variety of means: web-based; emails; face-book, etc.
Develop and maintain an appropriate ministry budget.
Review, update and maintain appropriate ministry manuals (nursery, security, emergency).
