Concordia University College
Edmonton, AB
Concordia University College of Alberta provides a rigorous, student-focused university education in an engaging and caring environment.
Established in 1921, Concordia began offering university-level arts and science courses in 1967, and received degree-granting status from the Province of Alberta in 1987.
A member of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada, Concordia currently offers accredited bachelor's and master's degrees, as well as professional certificate and diploma programs.
Concordia's greatest strength is its size. With an enrollment of 1,800, students benefit from smaller classes and access to their professors. In a recent survey of Alberta post-secondary graduates, Concordia ranked #1 in terms of graduate satisfaction with the quality of teaching and overall educational experience.
As a Christian university college, Concordia also adds purpose and meaning to university education by encouraging personal integrity, leadership and community responsibility. While our heritage is Lutheran, we serve people of all backgrounds and faiths.
At Concordia, students can earn three- and four-year Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degrees, or a four-year Bachelor of Management degree. Our after-degree programs include a two-year Bachelor of Education, a 15-month Bachelor of Environmental Health and diploma and certificate programs in Career Development.
Students wishing to enter into Christian church work can choose from our Director of Parish Services, Parish Nursing, Christian Teacher and Pre-seminary programs.
In November 2005, Concordia received approval from the Government of Alberta to offer its first graduate level program - Master of Information Systems Security Management.
At Concordia, we are committed to developing students intellectually, socially, physically and spiritually. Student life offers a rich and fulfilling experience, with a wide range of extracurricular activities - including student clubs and associations, music, drama and athletics.
Our nurturing atmosphere is a reflection of our commitment to the Christian faith - the foundation of all decision-making at Concordia. Concordia students are encouraged to take part in any number of spiritual activities. Daily chapel - led by faculty, students and guests, and open to everyone - is the focal point of spiritual life on campus. The student group LAMBS (Living A Mission Beyond Service) works to serve the greater community in Edmonton; students may also choose to join in mission trips to other parts of Canada.
Concordia's entrance scholarship program, aimed at students entering directly from high school, guarantees a minimum $1,000 scholarship for students with a 75 percent or higher admission average. Competitive entrance scholarships worth up to $15,000 are also available.
