Why Has No One Ever Told Me This Before?

Why Has No One Ever Told Me This Before?

by Jennifer Perry.

When I was 18 my Mom got married for the first time. She had become a Christian shortly before that, and I had no idea what was going on. I thought for sure she was in a cult. For quite a few years I mocked her and made jokes with my friends about it.

But she was patient. When I called for advice she would often ask me whether I wanted the God advice' or the other' advice. Sometimes I'd say, Oh, I don't want the God advice, and at other times I'd say, OK, alright. Let's hear the God advice I'll take it this time. Over the years she had asked me to do several things with the church and I would just decline, decline, decline. I just wasn't interested. This time I thought, I just don't want to let down Mom again. I said, I'll go one night and see what it's like. In my head I was thinking, I'm going to go one night to please Mom, and then I'm good for a bit before I have to do anything else.

I went the first night, not expecting anything. It was like somebody was finally speaking truth into my life for the first time ever. I remember sitting there thinking, Why has no one ever told me this stuff before? Where has this been?

Needless to say, I continued the course. Then, on the Holy Spirit weekend, I gave my life to Christ. My life has never been the same since.
