cbm’s Children’s Ability Network: rescuing
Uganda’s forgotten children
In celebration of its 100th anniversary, cbm Canada
(formerly known as Christian Blind Mission) plans to bring miracles to
250,000 of Uganda’s poorest children living with disabilities,
through its new Children’s Ability Network project.
Uganda is home to 26.4 million people, half of whom
are below the age of 15. Many children living with disabilities
won’t survive the first few years of life.
cbm aims to reach these forgotten children through an
ambitious country-wide project which involves a number of initiatives:
building a new disability hospital on the
outskirts;
establishing a new community development
support program;
broadening its transportation and follow-up
network programs;
training more Ugandan doctors, medical staff,
therapists and community health workers.
cbm plans to break the cycle of poverty and disability
in a sustainable, practical way.
cbm is an international disability and development
organization which brings hope and help to more than 18 million people
– who struggle with preventable diseases and disabilities, in more
than 1,000 projects in the poorest countries of the world.

the cycle of poverty and disability in Uganda – and save a
child’s life.
