Megan Newman - Zambia
With her spiritual roots in Victoria Full Gospel Fellowship, this B.C. native first went to Africa in 2001 for a one-year internship. For the past 18 months, she has been on the teaching faculty at the Heart of Africa Mission's Christian Training College in Kitwe in the Copperbelt province of Zambia.
I recently experienced the great blessing of having my parents come to Zambia to stay with me for one glorious month!
We had so many adventures together - from buying a fridge on the second day they were here, to basking in the sun with 20 lions surrounding us!
I was a little nervous about how they would like Zambia, my house, et cetera. But God gave them a love for the land, the people - and, yes, even for my house (especially my six new puppies) - even before they left Canada!
I had the opportunity to go on holiday with them for a time.
We went first to South Lwangwa National Park, where we came closer to lions, elephants, hippos and crocs than we ever thought we would - or for that matter, ever wanted to!
After our adventures in the wild, we headed to the city of Livingstone - and then went to nearby Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. It certainly lives up to its reputation.
In our spare time, which was not a lot, we managed to even paint my house!
I cannot even begin to share of what a blessing, joy and adventure it was to
have my parents visit. I have memories I will cherish for all my life.
Thank you to all of you who prayed for us, and sent your love and gifts.
I was abundantly blessed.
