Praying for Darfur
World Relief Canada (WRC) is inviting all its supporters to join Christians around the world in fasting and prayer on May 15 -- focusing on the crisis in Darfur, Sudan. An estimated 200,000 people have died and 2.5 million have fled their homes, triggering one of the world's worst humanitarian crises. WRC's partner, Tearfund UK, is working in Sudanese Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps. They are providing much-needed access to drinking water, therapeutic feeding, and health lessons. "There isn't a day goes by that these IDP's are not faced with the grim realities of health and security issues," said Laurie Cook, CEO of WRC, adding: "There are a number of things that we as Christians should be doing -- but at this time, we are calling on you to fast and pray."
Manning on the air

"Personal values and beliefs shape how we think, what we do and how we relate to others. Taking time to pause and reflect on personal values and beliefs, those of others and our own, can only be a positive exercise," said Manning, who is currently president and CEO of the Manning Centre for Building Democracy. This I Believe began broadcasting on CBC Radio One on May 14.
