Pro-life Christians accept Order of Canada awards

Comments

I struggle with these great Canadians not being honoured so the recognition is very important. Unfortunately they have recieved a Canadian Award that has been cheapened by the murderous hands of the man responsible for death of 100's of thousands of Canadians. Its like sharing an award with Idi Amin or Usama ben laden.

The recent pro-life recipients of the award should reflect on the reason why suddenly, a group of pro-lifers received the award. No doubt they did good work fro Canada, but im guessing the award was bequeathed so as to alienate these moral giants that returned the award. Just like lots of people had reasons to continue trading with apartheid era South Africa, so there are reasons for hanging on to this degraded award, but they just arent so compelling.

"At the same time, I believe in the value of the Order of Canada . . . It is not up to me to judge who should be banned from receiving it. In no way can I judge intentions" Mr. Vanier says he believes in the award, but wont judge who should receive it. How can he ''believe'' in it, then suddenly suspend his judgment, or discernment, from who it should go to? I wonder if he would still ''believe'''in it, if it was bequeathed to the president of the Hells Angels. His ''gosh, i dont know'', ''its all good'' statement doesnt wash with me.
