Evangelical groups keeping a close eye on Bountiful polygamy case

Comments

On October 18, 2002, Canada ratified the Protocol on the UN Convention on the Elimination of All forms of Discrimination Against Women (Equality in Marriage and Family Relations: 04/02/94/ CEDAW General Recommendation 21) Sections 14 and 39 state that polygamy contravenes women's equality rights and also harms their children. Canada is legally obligated to uphold this document, as well as sections 15 and 28 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which states women have complete equality with men. As well, the Charter states that religous rights are not absolute. These documents will ensure that polygamy never becomes legal in Canada, and thank God for that. Like the thousands of Muslim women who are now petitioning their governments to end polygamy (check the Internet) I too do not want to live in a country where men are allowed to collect women into harems, in the same way that these men might collect cattle or cars. Polygamy comes from the dark ages when women had no rights and were merely chattels. It's time to kick it into the garbage can of history. No concubines or harems in Canada, please!

If God wanted polygamy to be practiced why isn't the ratio of women to men 20:1???
I'm sure the polygamy created a lot of unhappy souls and sociel unrest in our society, and in our world in general.

Polygamy is already legal in Saskatchewan Canada.
Doesn't everyone already know that? Since polygamy is legal in one province, it must be recognized as legal by all provinces in Canada.
