Recently I sent out an email which included a short
story that went like this:
Returning from a recent trip to the U.S. I had quite
the experience while standing in line at Canada Customs. When it was my
turn, I placed my passport and customs form on the little area in front of
the customs officer and began to answer her questions.
Most of us take on a more serious tone when the guard
begins to ask question after question. When she got to the question
“Why were you in the U.S?” I responded “For work.”
She replied “For canadafire right?” I was a little shocked.
‘How did she know this?’ I wondered.
She went on to tell me that when she was a student in
grade 10 she first came to campusfire! “I always wrestled with how to
live my faith out in my school. Your conference helped. You then shipped my
friends and I a resource packet which we used to start a prayer group. A
year later we started Quest in our school. It was awesome. A couple of my
good friends now came to faith during that time!” She was a little
excited you could say. She thanked me and I jokingly asked if she was going
to let me back into Canada.
Julie’s life was changed, and she changed the
world around her.
I got an immediate response from a youth worker named
Grace:
“I was involved with campusfire for two years
too, and I loved it. I now help out with the teens at my church, and I tell
them all about it, encouraging them to start their own ministries at their
high schools like I did. One of them actually did! Crystal, in grade 11,
has just started a 15-member Christian group at Glen Eagle in Coquitlam,
B.C. and I’m very excited about how they’re going! They
currently meet in a portable and are looking for a sponsor teacher, but so
far, they've been having Bible studies once a week, and it’s growing
steadily.”
This is an exciting example of how canadafire has been
investing in students for over seven years. We're still committed to the
same vision – to see every high school and post-secondary student in
Canada have the opportunity to journey and meet Jesus.
It’s an exciting time; just over the last few
months we’ve started getting students who we’ve worked with in
high school who are now working and becoming financial supporters!
I want to give you an overview of some of the projects
we’re currently raising support for. Please prayerfully consider how
you might partner with us in these projects, so we can see more students
like Julie and Grace come to the realization they can change the world
around them in Jesus’ name.
Bibles in schools
Imagine that: God’s word put into the hands of
students in public school across Canada. We have partnered with the
Canadian Bible Society to provide Bibles to Christian students for them to
personally give New Testament Bibles to people in their school. To date we
have seen just over 45,000 Bibles handed out in school all across Canada.
We are hoping to deliver another 60,000 Bibles this next season. We will be
partnering with six different youth conferences this spring where we hope
to give out Bibles to Christian students.

Fire Starter packets
Every time a student wants to start a campus ministry
in their school they go online to campusfire.com and register their school.
We then send him or her a Fire Starter Packet. This packet has been put
together to have all the right resources to equip a student to start and
lead a campus ministry. So far we have seen over 2,600 kits go out across
Canada. More and more we are seeing existing campus ministries registering
their schools and using the kits to support the staff and students working
on campus in universities and colleges. These kits we provide because of
partners like you who make it possible.

Quest in schools
Give the opportunity for students in public schools to
explore the meaning of life from a Christian perspective in a safe
environment with their peers. ImageXMedia has created a seven week video
series that explains the gospel with youth and young adult language. We
have seen over 780 student-led Quest series run in public school across
Canada. Students are coming to faith in Jesus and/or coming closer to
owning Jesus as their God. Questions are being answered, relationships are
growing and students are finding hope for their souls. We are hoping to see
another 300 video sets available for students.
Full project cost: $30,000
General fund
We have a staff to volunteer ratio of 3 to
1,200! For over seven years we have been designing resources to train and
empower students in leading ministries within schools across Canada. Our
office provides needed infrastructure in support of these students and
youth workers across Canada. Contributing to the general fund helps support
our office staff, our website and promotional material. Through
partnerships with Peace Portal Alliance Church, in South Surrey, B.C. who
provide office space and equipment, and The Leadership Centre in Kelowna,
B.C. who help with our resource fulfillment and phone orders, we have
managed to keep our General Fund needs at a minimum.
General fund full year's costs: $72,000

Monthly committed support
We have a growing team of monthly supporters who
provide a prayerful monthly support that provides the needed resources to
support our student leaders with resources and support. We call them
‘The Gardeners Club’ due to the nature of the monthly nurturing
they provide to the growing organization. Please consider joining the team
of people who provide the needed monthly support.
You can join by sending a void check or else by doing
a monthly transfer by Credit Card or Direct Debit. Please call our office
to set up your monthly transfer.
