WITH MORE OPTIONS available to students than ever before, Christian colleges and universities are becoming an increasingly popular choice among post-secondary bound students. And it is easy to see why. Whether you’re looking to spend a year gaining a better understanding of the Bible, or you want to obtain your degree in an environment that supports your Christian faith, you’ll find a college or university that creates opportunities for you.

Today’s Christian colleges and universities boast strong academics to prepare you for your career, a faith-based environment that increases your biblical understanding and helps you integrate your faith into your daily life, and endless opportunities to reach out and impact the world around you.

Prepare for your career!

Christian colleges and universities offer an array of academic programs ranging from Bible and missions, to nursing and psychology . . . and more. By carefully evaluating the various schools available, you can find an institution that will prepare you for your career.

With smaller class sizes than large public universities, Christian colleges and universities offer you increased opportunities. You’ll get to know your professors personally and be able to ask them questions to clarify and deepen your understanding of the subject you’re studying. And when you’ve shown an aptitude for a subject, as Krista Lauginson (BSc ‘03) did, you’ll discover opportunities to gain real world work experience. “At my school, almost every upper level student in the chemistry department has an opportunity to work in some way within the department. I worked as a teaching assistant for the analytical chemistry labs and as a research assistant for professors,” says Krista. “This gave me work experience that looks great on a resume or grad school application. In a larger institution these jobs would be done by graduate students or possibly a few of the top undergrads.”

Grow in your faith!

A key distinctive of a Christian college or university is the faith-based environment – an environment in which your Christian faith is supported, and where you are free to question and explore other world views. Because all truth is viewed as God’s truth, professors don’t shy away from the hard questions, and in fact encourage you to understand and explore not only your own faith but other points of view. You’ll learn to integrate your faith into your chosen area. Says Kara Pecknold (BA, ’93), “The school I chose was a place where I could ask hard questions with the support of faculty and peers who wanted to uncover the truth as much as I did.”

Impact your world!

Opportunities to reach out to the world around you abound on Christian campuses. Whether you choose to go overseas with a campus mission team or participate in a Saturday morning Kids Club for underprivileged youth, Christian campuses offer unique and exciting avenues for you to impact your world. As you get involved in various opportunities, giving to others, you discover that your life is also changed.

Whether you want to spend one year or four years in a Christian environment, Christian colleges and universities are an exciting possibility. Visit the Christian College and University Fairs website (www.ccufairs.ca) for a listing of the institutions that you have an opportunity to visit this fall in a city near you. You’ll find overviews online that will help you decide which institution is the best fit for you, and you can also register for a $1,000 scholarship draw.
