Discover language and culture at the Canada Institute of Linguistics (CanIL)!

Through studies in linguistics, you’ll discover the richness of language and culture – and how you can participate in giving God’s word to the nations.

Scholarships are available!

We offer a streamlined training package for linguistic and cross-cultural work, which can be completed in just 10 months in our well-equipped Harvest Centre.

You’ll learn how to recognize and pronounce global speech sounds. You’ll be able to develop alphabets, compile dictionaries and describe grammars, as you unlock systems of meaning in language. Training at CanIL opens the door to effective cross-cultural relationships.

CanIL’s diverse family of students and staff offer the supportive learning environment of small-sized classes within a major university setting. Your language skills will develop as you interact with linguist-professors, who are active in field work around the world. CanIL is an excellent launching point for your work in the global community.
