Calgary will play host to the gathering of the Christian Music Industry once
again this coming fall. The Gospel Music Association of Canada will be
presenting GMA Canada Week, October 20 – 24.
Artists from across Canada – plus special guests and speakers from Nashville – will converge on Calgary for four days of networking, workshops, showcases, a
talent competition with thousands of dollars worth of prizes, and the 31st
annual Covenant Awards.
The passion behind the event is to see Christian music grow in this country. The
talent that Canada has been blessed with just continues to grow, with artists
such as Brian Doerksen, Cindy Morgan, High Valley, Downhere, Starfield, Steve
Bell, Hawk Nelson and literally hundreds of other gifted musicians across the
country.
Sessions at the conference will include songwriting, touring, working as a band,
record labels and agents, and using the internet to market yourself and your
music.
This year’s event includes a performance competition with live judges giving interactive
feedback to sharpen your stage presence; a song-writing competition for writers
from across Canada (whether you can attend or not); and an all-new Canadian
Bible Society Scripture Song of the Year, with a recording prize – including duplication and airplay.
