Carey Theological College is now offering a sharp and
focused 72-credit hour Master of Divinity program – which is
considerably shorter than the 90-credit hour program which many seminaries
currently offer.
This adds up to a total of 24 courses, which pastors
and laypeople who choose to study part-time should be able to finish in
about four years.
A majority of the course work is available online,
allowing students to continue to grow roots in their primary community
(where they live, work and worship), as they engage in life-long learning
that deepens their ministry.
Carey recognizes that the days are gone when seminary
students move to an unfamiliar city near an established school, and
accumulate debt – all before entering ministry.
The situation of the church in Western culture is no
longer that of an established institution in a Christian nation (if,
indeed, it ever was). And life in ministry reflects this condition.
Today, the church is a mission outpost. The graduate
education that Carey offers to pastoral leaders is formatted to fit this
changing context.
Carey is currently taking applications for the new
MDiv degree program, as well as their classic Doctor of Ministry and Master
of Pastoral Ministry degree programs.
