Anna grew up in what she describes as “a crazy,
artsy fartsy, hippy Christian family” in Vancouver. She was first
introduced to creativity playing with costumes, telling stories and
indulging in photo shoots with her older sister, and when she was asked
what she’d be when she grew up Anna would draw pictures of ballerinas
and artists. Little did she know that 20 years later she’d be
completing her fourth year of dance school and pursuing her creative
passion for painting, writing and music (including her CD, All I Thought I Knew and a brand
new music video, You’re Here ). Anna reflects:
. . . on calling
“It’s almost like I didn’t choose
not to do a degree. God has been clear with me: Do music. The opportunities
just keep falling into my lap. My husband Dave is also amazing; he keeps
saying: Just do what you love. He gets me excited about life and I go for
it!”
. . . on inspiration
“I’m just listening. When I start playing,
with the Holy Spirit with me, it just spills out. This is true for
everything: choreography, singing and painting. I am also inspired by
nature and travel. I believe it heals us and speaks to us. I need to walk
outside all the time to remember it’s a big world and God made it
all.”

. . . on what’s next
“These days I’m pretty busy with dance and
painting, and music is also really on my heart a lot more now. I kind of
had some personal breakthrough with it this summer when I went on tour, and
I’ve been writing and playing more, and really would like to record
next summer . . . record something . . . a short or long album. I don’t know how that
will all come together, but I am writing at least a song a month this year,
and sometimes more!” www.annavandas.com
