AS STARFIELD was in Georgia, nearing the end of a
seven-week U.S. tour and looking forward to returning home to Abbotsford, I
caught up with lead singer Tim Neufeld to ask him about their upcoming
tour.
“Our first love is for Canada, and we are excited
about bringing this tour to Canada,” he said. “This is the most
ambitious tour we’ve ever embarked on, bringing more sound and
lighting than ever before. But we’ve also carefully chosen a line-up
of friends that will lead to an intimate night of worship and
ministry.”
The award-winning band will be joined by Sparrow
Records labelmate Bethany Dillon; Inpop Records acoustic duo Shane &
Shane; and dynamic speaker and author David Nasser. The tour, in support of
their new album, I Will Go, will kick off with several late-April concerts in B.C., and wrap
up in Ontario in mid-May.
Audiences will certainly hear favourites like
‘Filled with Your Glory’ and ‘The Hand that Holds the
World; but the band is also excited to play new music from I Will Go – which was

Abbotsford.
The band has a passion for exhorting the church, and

“Let me not be blind with privilege / Give me
eyes to see the pain / Let the blessing You’ve poured out on me / Not
be spent on me in vain / Let this life be used for change / I will
go.”
Neufeld described the theme of several songs, and the
forthcoming tour, as a prayer to Christ: “We ask You to purify Your
church – and let us be worthy to be sent out.”
Starfield is partnering with the Billy Graham
Evangelical Association (BGEA), which will be providing counselling and
follow-up at each stop on the tour. Youth organization Canada Fire and the
Canadian Bible Society are partnering to give a New Testament, Psalms and
Proverbs to any concert-goers.
Plans are also underway for a second leg of Canadian
cities in the fall, with a new line up of special guests – including
BGEA speaker Will Graham.
The upcoming B.C. concerts will be at Glad Tidings
Church, Victoria (April 24); Central Heights Church, Abbotsford (April 25);
Willingdon Church, Burnaby (April 26); and Willow Park Church,
Kelowna (April 27).
