FRANCIS TSUI is president of Asian Outreach (AO)
– a ministry based in Hong Kong, with centres in many countries,
including Canada. He is visiting Vancouver this month.
AO has partnered with two Vancouver churches, Coastal
Church and Granville Chapel – who have sent both funds and
short term mission teams to Thailand, Cambodia and Mongolia.
Asian Outreach has been going for more than four
decades.
Tsui was asked what he felt were AO’s most
significant achievements.
“From the 20th into the 21st century, we are
experiencing a seismic shift in mission participation. Historically,
mission is about ‘from the West to the rest’; yet into
the second half of the 20th century, we saw missional efforts evolve into .
. . ‘from the rest to the rest.’
“When I travel to the different parts of Asia,
especially into the south, the central and southwestern parts of this vast
continent, more and more I hear the appeal: ‘Please send us more
Asians.’”

AO, he emphasizes, is an Asia-based, Asian-led
multicultural mission organization, which values highly the importance of
international partnerships. We have been privileged to serve and to
contribute to this momentous transformation, in our four-decade-young
history.”
Tsui is also enthusiastic about partnering with
churches.
“Kingdom Networking is a key expression of our
ministries. As an instrument of grace, we at AO work closely with
other expressions of the kingdom – such as mission-minded churches in
different parts of the world – to serve the harvest field.”
Churches, he noted, “are partners in prayer, in
people, and in resources. With partnerships, we also serve the churches in
the areas of promotion and education – as well as preparation of
Christians to be sent to the harvest fields, either as short-termers or
life-termers.”
