than 250 million registered users worldwide. It is by far the most popular
site for the latest in pop culture, with calendars, music, videos and
forums.
Facebook.com began as a
way to connect students, but is now one of the fastest growing social
networking sites for those over 25.
Twitter.com asks users
to answer one simple question: “What are you doing?” Ans-wers
must be under 140 characters in length and can be sent via mobile texting,
instant message or the web.
LinkedIn.com connects
business colleagues, helping you network with other professionals. Members
use it to find clients, hire employees and recommend colleagues.
YouTube.com was founded
in 2005, and immediately became the premier destination for people to watch
and share videos with the world. Users can also embed YouTube video code on
their websites.
MyYearbook.com was
started in 2005 by two high school friends, and quickly became the
‘hot’ place for teens. Members play games using cyber money,
watch TV shows and support environmental causes.
With Ning.com, users create their own social network. They define their
own profile questions for incoming members, approve members before they
join and enable members to customize their profile pages.

Tagged.com is another
site that allows users to create personal profiles, upload video and
photos, and chat. The site was designed specifically for teens.
Last.fm allows users to
not only listen to music but help promote it. The site tracks users’
music preferences and makes suggestions for more music. Users can also
start their own internet radio stations.
