Youth With A Mission (YWAM) has been appearing before
Vancouver City Council, to apply for permission to rezone a 9,000 square
foot ex-seniors centre on Napier Street in East Vancouver. They are calling
for prayer.
YWAM Vancouver director Mike Davies spoke to BCCN,
“City staff recommended refusal, citing concerns
like parking, traffic, noise and having too many young people in a
mid-block residential area.”
Davies outlined YWAM’s need. “Acquisition
of the Napier Street building is a key part of a multi-phase vision to see
the ministry of YWAM Vancouver fully established and rooted in the city.
“This new building will serve as discipleship
training school and offices. Down the road we hope to purchase additional
buildings such as outreach warehouse for larger gatherings, and apartment
buildings for staff housing.”
“Please ask your readers to pray for the city
council members as we are going to hear their decision February 3,”
he said.
“Whatever the outcome, we desire to retain good
relationships with our neighbours; indeed many of our staff live in the
area.” – PB
