THE WORK of Vancouver-based missionaries has received
high praise after detailed evaluation.
David Waines, who has ministered in Liberia with his
wife Audry for more than two decades, has conduced primary health care work
for Equip Canada in the Nimba County region.
A comprehensive and objective 41-page assessment was
written by veteran global health expert David F. Pyle; it was based on
extensive research conducted last year. The report is a ringing endorsement
of the Waines’ operation.
Pyle asserts that the couple and their staff are
“totally knowledgeable about the health needs, as well as the culture
of the country.”
Further, he notes, Equip has “demonstrated once
again that, with the involvement and empowerment of the community, anything
can be accomplished.” He concludes that the program’s
“quantitative achievements have been matched by its qualitative
success.”
