Homes for Mexico
People wanting to learn something about the Anglican
Kootenay Diocese mission trip to Mexico last November can go online to
stsaviourspenticton.ca to see Richard Simpson’s report and a number
of photos taken in Mexico. A total of 30 people from the diocese were on
the trip; they helped villagers to build homes.
Simpson’s report notes: “The mothers of the
families thanked us all so sincerely and told us their story – a very
moving account of their struggles and the poverty and hopelessness they
have endured, and the hope and encouragement they now have because of the
gift of their new homes.”
Fair trade
If you are in Kamloops and want to buy fair trade
coffee and hot chocolate while attending church on a Sunday, Kamloops
United Church is one place where you can do so.
The KUC Lenten newsletter points out four reasons the
church leadership advocates fair trade: To ensure farmers get fair wages,
to support safer practices both for the farmer and the planet, to raise
funds for the church and to arrange awareness for social justice issues in
general.
Marriage by satellite
‘Focus on Marriage’ will be the theme when
a satellite seminar is staged February 28 at Trinity Baptist Church. Gary
Thomas, Beth Moore, Del Tackett, Gary Smalley and John Trent are the
speakers in the lineup.
One of the features, after Smalley’s
presentation, will be a “couple reflection time frame, where
attending couples will be able to digest and discuss what they have seen
and heard to that point.”

Tech director sought
Trinity Baptist is also looking for a technical
director. The job description on the TBC site (trinitybaptist.net) reads as
follows: “Do you have an excellent understanding of the various
technical requirements of speaking, music, drama, lighting and video? Would
you like to provide enhancement of gospel presentations through technical
avenues, in ways that are culturally relevant?” A visit to the site
will provide leads for getting further information.
