JUSTIN Dennison, pastor of Johnston Heights Evangelical Church, recently had a
bout with YouTube fame, as a clip from his January 17 sermon drew media
attention.
SFU student Obi Canuel, who tapes various things for study purposes, told Surrey Now he was “shocked” by Dennison’s comments, and felt compelled to make them public.
The brief clip has the Surrey pastor saying, among other things, that “Maybe God has shaken that place.”
Dennison told the Now: “I didn’t mean in any way shape or form that God has taken judgment on Haiti . . . I’m not saying Haiti is the kingdom of darkness.”
After the sermon, the church took up a collection for Haiti relief. Dennison
said they had, so far, raised $7,500. – DFD
