PRO-LIFE activists have been getting a higher profile lately in Kelowna.
For the past several months, they have staged silent vigils – many of them with red tape over their mouths, with the word ‘Life’ displayed on the tape.
This month, they are ‘upping the ante.’
Kelowna Right to Life “is excited to announce our participation in one of the newest and most effective
pro-life initiatives to come along in years,” said Marlon Bartram, the group’s executive director.
“40 Days for Life campaigns,” he continued, “have been held at numerous locations . . . and have resulted in changed hearts and minds, abortion mills closing
down, and hundreds of lives saved.”
Accordingly, he said, his organization is staging 40 Days, February 17 to March
28.
“We will be maintaining a prayer presence outside of our local abortion facility
at Kelowna General Hospital, from 8 am to 8 pm, seven days per week.”
Bartram added: “We are bringing well-known pro-life activist Gianna Jessen to Kelowna to kick
off this important event.”
Jessen is a Catholic singer/songwriter who survived – and recovered remarkably – after being born during a saline abortion.
The 40 Days website says the event will incorporate “prayer and fasting . . . peaceful vigil [and] community outreach.”

Further, organizers stated, “We are praying that, with God’s help, this groundbreaking effort will mark the beginning of the end of unborn
child-killing in Kelowna and throughout Canada.”
The statement emphasized: “While all aspects of 40 Days for Life are crucial in our effort to end abortion,
the most visible component is the peaceful prayer vigil outside the local
abortion facility.”
