Behind the name
Ever wondered how Guisachan Fellowship Baptist Church
got its name? According to the church’s website
(www.guisachanbaptist.org), it is a Gaelic word meaning ‘The place of
the fir.’ There was once a large stand of firs nearby, so Lady
Aberdeen name the area, in part because it reminded her of her childhood
home in Invernesshire, Scotland. It is pronounced ‘Goosh-a-gan.’ The church is
located at 2210 Stillingfleet Road in Kelowna, a couple of blocks south of
Springfield Road. More info is available from pastors Paul Baumback or
Eugene Benner, at 250-860-2486.
MegaBites connection
People with a bit of time to spare on Monday mornings,
who are appreciative of Christian connecting and sharing opportunities are
encouraged by Christian City Church to meet at 10:30 am each Monday at
MegaBites Bistro in the Landmark Building 3, at 1632 Dickson Road. The
church’s pastor, Dave Olson, has more info at dave@c3kelowna.ca or
250-717-7265.
Genesis seminar
People who missed the February 29 – March 1 event
called The Genesis Process, sponsored by Kelowna’s Gospel Mission and
held at New Life Church, might want to call KGM at 250-763-3737 for info.
The speaker was author Michael Dye. Billed as a ‘personal healing and
change seminar,’ it explored issues relating to addictions, the brain
and the Bible, and making the church safe for hurting people.
