SUPPORTERS of affordable housing are a stubborn lot, as
this rain-soaked family proved during a ‘Stand for Housing’
last fall.
Such dedication will doubtless be in evidence at the
Grand March for Housing, scheduled for April 4.
Organizers are hoping “thousands of people from
communities across B.C.” will converge on Vancouver.
The aim of the march is to “elicit concrete
public commitments from local candidates in the May 12 provincial
election.”
Two key events lead up to the march – an
organizational meeting at Tenth Church (11 West 10th Avenue) March 12, 7
pm, and a province-wide Stand for Housing event March 21, starting at 1 pm.
One of the key groups involved, Streams of Justice
(streamsofjustice.org), is urging Christians to utilize the period of
Lent as a way of focusing on “a fast for housing.”
They hope to sustain “a relay of fasters until
the 2010 Olympics.”
