Church Serve
 | | Patricia Goertzen is the new executive director of Church Serve Canada, operating in Kelowna and Vernon. | Church Serve Canada, with offices in Kelowna and
Vernon, has appointed Patricia Goertzen as its new executive director.
She will work with a volunteer pool of more than 150,
from some 25 churches throughout the Okanagan Valley, who interact with
about 100 households each month.
For 10 years, Goertzen was co-owner of Okanagan
Scriptural Supplies, with her husband Larry.
A press release cites her experience in volunteer
coordination, leadership, prayer ministry and financial administration.
Established in 2002, the organization was blended with
NeighbourLink in 2006.
Volunteers provide practical help with cleaning,
laundry and food preparation for people under 65 with chronic health
concerns or difficulties.
Drivers assist food banks in delivering hampers, for
young moms or others with limited access to the food banks. Goertzen takes

Undone
Undone is an event taking place the last Saturday of
each month at 7 pm, at The Bridge Community in Kelowna. The evening
aims to express worship through music and art. The Bridge Community is the
contemporary name for the Kelowna Full Gospel Church. The co-pastors are
Mark and Sandi Gordon. The group is affiliated with the Apostolic Church of

Seniors Drop-In
Seniors looking for a place to socialize might like to
make contact with New Vista, the seniors program at Kelowna Community
Church, to enquire about their weekly Wednesday Drop-In meetings at at 1480
Sutherland Avenue at Burtch. Meetings run 10 am to 1 pm.
Table games or shuffle board, a reasonably-priced lunch
and an interesting guest speaker are all part of the regular routine.
Organizers also put together outdoor activities and
special outings, dinner fellowships and even a week at a summer camp.

Eagle Bay
Christian and Missionary Alliance churches in the
Okanagan and Thompson valleys are preparing for their 22nd summer at Eagle
Bay Camp on the south shore of Shuswap Lake.
The denomination’s camp includes a new lodge with
18 rooms – each with its own washroom.
Outdoor activities include a 24 foot high climbing
tower, beach volleyball, swimming, canoeing and kayaking – and a
large outdoor fire pit for sitting around singing those old time
favourites.

Mission Weekend
Friday to Sunday, March 6 – 8, will be the
Mission Weekend at First Baptist Church in Penticton.
The weekend will feature a wide range of
mission-oriented events and displays, including a soup lunch fundraiser on
Sunday.
First Baptist is affiliated with the Canadian Baptists
of Western Canada, the new name for what used to be known as the Baptist
Union of Western Canada. The church has been serving Penticton for more
than 100 years.

Study and tour
Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Summerland reaches out
into other communities with some Bible study activities, according to its
website.
Two of these, called ‘Coffee n More,’
are in Peachland and Penticton. The church is also posting info about
a tour of Israel and Egypt, running November 4 – 20.
