News anchor Lee helps World Vision
|
|
 | | Mi-Jung Lee befriends a young Brazilian girl. | WORLD VISION Canada’s ‘Vancouver Campaign
for Children’ enlisted the help of well known CTV News presenter Mi-Jung Lee, to help reach
the goal of 3,000 new sponsorships of children. Campaigning between
February 2 and March 16, WV tallied more than 3,100 first-time sponsors.
In the first week of last December, Lee traveled to
Fortaleza, Brazil to experience first-hand the impact World Vision is
having on children who live in poverty.
“It’s one thing to know in your head that
poverty abounds,” she recorded in her weblog, adding:
“It’s another when it smacks your senses as you step out of
your air conditioned car. That’s what happened when we visited
Vania’s tiny home in one of Fortaleza’s most desperate favelas, or slums. The World
Vision worker warned us.”
Jessica Parker of World Vision spoke enthusiastically
of Lee, saying: “She’s been a wonderful advocate for us, in
raising awareness of child poverty.”
