Hear the Music
The Vernon Performing Arts Centre will be the scene for
the return of Hear the Music, April 19. There will be two performances, at
6 and 8:30 pm. While admission is free, an offering will be received.

Hydro-Scrub?
Did you know that one Penticton church has a staff
member whose job title is Hydro-Scrub Technician? Yes, that intriguing
individual is Charles L. Henske. He is right there on the staff list of
Penticton Church of the Nazarene, along with the senior, assistant and
youth pastors and the administrative coordinator. Perhaps you can find out
what ‘hydro-scrub’ means at nazpen.org.
Passover perspective
Something a bit more significant about Penticton Church
of the Nazarene: On April 9, from 6:30 to 9 p.m., the church is
offering an examination of Passover – from a Christian perspective.
Participants will partake of the elements of the Passover, as well as
taking communion. Rabbi Stan Chester of Orville, Washington, will lead the
event, co-sponsored by the host Nazarene church and the Torah Light
Messianic Synagogue of Penticton.
Mennonite who?
First Mennonite Church, which has been worshipping in
Kelowna for over 60 years, offers easy online access to information about
both their local congregation and the worldwide movement – which
includes some one million people. One of the suggestions, at kfmc.ca, comes
by clicking onto “Who are we?” That takes the surfer to
thirdway.com, the home of Third Way Café. And there, it notes:
“Whether you’re doing a project for school, just surfing the
web, trying to find out more about the history of the Mennonites, or
searching for answers to faith questions: we’re glad you’ve
dropped in.” The site offer information about basic Mennonite
beliefs, ‘Mennonite lite’ and, of course, FAQ.

Wonder who?
Another church linking to an online café is
Summerland United; it links to wondercafe.ca, where you’ll find the
popular United Church Wonder Café, where all sorts of information
about the denomination and its various sectors are available, as well as
some on-line forums. Intriguingly, the minister of Summerland United, Kent
Israel, is referred to as “our full time assistant.” That point
is prefaced by the suggestion that “the ministry of Summerland United
is exercised by the whole people of God.”
