| Camp Imadene knows how to keep its young guests entertained. | CAMP IMADENE was recently presented with an offer which would enable significant
expansion of its ministry.
The camp is located on 55 acres along the shores of Mesachie Lake, a five minute
drive from Lake Cowichan.
“We have been given an opportunity to purchase an additional 160 acres, including
7,000 feet of waterfront and the south side of Mesachie Mountain” stated Joe Taylor, chair of the Imadene Foundation.
Imadene’s leaders see this potential acquisition as a practical means of getting the
gospel message out to a wider segment of the Vancouver Island population.
Since the camp’s founding in 1926, more than 100,000 children, teens and adults have been
positively impacted by attending camp – with many either forming a personal relationship with Christ, or having their
faith strengthened.
With the recent influx of development in the Lake Cowichan area, the camp also
wants to preserve the pristine natural beauty that their guests have enjoyed
since the facility moved to Mesachie Lake in 1991.
“We know future change on Mesachie Lake is inevitable,” said Taylor. “We have seen it before at Imadene’s former home on Maple Bay, where the bay became too congested with marine
traffic – and this raised serious safety concerns.”

Taylor added: “We desire for Camp Imadene to be able to influence as much of this future change
as possible, preserving the tranquility that already exists.”
The current owners of the property have shown great support to the camp, as
Imadene proceeds with the purchase. Over their many years as neighbours of the
camp, they have recognized the value the facility offers its guests.
The Imadene Foundation is currently in the beginning stages of fundraising, and
has already seen significant support come in.
However, Taylor cautioned, “There is still a long way to go before the scheduled June 30 possession date.” He emphasized: “Buying this property is only the first step, and there is much work still to be
done in ensuring the property is maintained and used to further the great work
of the camp.”
“We start this new chapter in the life of our ministry with a sense of great
excitement and anticipation,” said Vicki Podetz, camp administrator. “Camp Imadene truly is a great place to be.”
