THE COQUITLAM Pro-Life Society (CPLS) will be hosting its second ‘Walk for Life and Family Day’ June 2.

The main event consists of a five-kilometre walk; there is also a nine-kilometre event, which gives participants the option of running, rollerblading or biking. Both events begin and end at Lion’s Park in Port Coquitlam.

Funds raised from the walk will help CPLS finance a special event in October. The group plans to bring Gianna Jessen to Coquitlam for pro-life ministry.

She was adopted by a Christian family, and now has a dynamic ministry as a musician, athlete and advocate for the unborn.

Her story has inspired people throughout the world, through coverage by media outlets such as the BBC and Sky News; she has also spoken to the U.S. Congress.

Although Jessen walks with a limp, she has completed marathons – a remarkable feat, considering that she was once told she might never walk.

While it is a fundraiser, the June 2 walk is also an opportunity for families to enjoy each other’s company. There will also be prizes, including movie passes, a ride pass to Playland, Starbucks gift certificates and more.
