EVERY YEAR, Focus on the Family Canada facilitates a cross-country series of seminars with some of North America’s best speakers on family life. This year’s series is entitled ‘After Happily Ever After: the Adventure of a Lasting Marriage.’

Gary and Barbara Rosberg – authors of 6 Secrets to a Lasting Love – are heading the one-evening events in 13 Canadian cities, until May 15. The evenings are geared for married and engaged couples, as well as those in dating relationships.

Roni Martin heads up Focus’ large network of volunteers who facilitate the events. Many of them, she says, “have been connected to Focus as registered volunteers for 15 – 20 years. This runs against a documented decline in volunteerism nationally.” These people, she says, “believe in Focus’ role in strengthening families. I am always looking for people who have a heart to serve those around them.”

After each event, Focus provides small-group materials and follow-up resources. “Our national tours can catalyze connections for families in an ongoing basis,” says Focus president Terence Rolston, adding: “We firmly believe we have a foundation to reach a nation, with the needs within families being greater than they have ever been.”

The events cost $15 and run 7 – 9:45 pm. B.C. venues include Willingdon Church, Burnaby May 13; and North Douglas Pentecostal Church, Victoria May 14. A May 15 evening at South Abbotsford Church is sold out.
