Clothes, cars & more

This spring’s Community Service day at Trinity Baptist Church, complete with a ‘Clothes Closet’ and car care, is set for Saturday morning, May 3. Every spring and fall, the church becomes a place where free services are available for those who might not be able to afford them otherwise. Single mothers can get springtime service for their cars, including an oil change and safety inspection. (Note: those wanting this service need to pre-register by May 1.) Help will be available from a computer technician, a lawyer, a public health nurse, a children’s craft teacher, a resume writer and a counsellor. For more info, call Nadene at 250.860. 3273 x 133.

Lenders united

The church’s blog at c3kelowna.ca notes: “We are thrilled that we have already been able to lend to 14 entrepreneurs, through the giving of C3 Kelowna people. Check out our lender page – and see what can happen if everyone does a little.” Note: a caveat at the bottom of the lender pages points out: “Lending to the working poor through Kiva involves risk of principal loss. Kiva does not guarantee repayment, nor do we offer a financial return on your loan.”
