ADAM YOUNG, better known as Owl City, is one of that exalted 21st century breed known as the internet phenomenon.
Young, who played at Vancouver’s Vogue Theatre April 2, became an online sensation last July. ‘Fireflies,’ a song from his Ocean Eyes album, was chosen as the iTunes music store single of the week. The tune was downloaded an estimated 650,000 times within a week, and was soon the No. 1 song in the U.S.
His music is synth-oriented, and his lyrics tend to be playful. Asked by Christianity Today to describe his source of creativity, he said:
