The show kicked off with a bang as new Australian rock/worship band Revive took to the stage.
After they had the crowd on their feet, this year’s Dove Award winner for Male Vocalist, Brandon Heath, shared with the crowd that this was a homecoming of sorts for him – as he had become a Christian at Young Life’s Camp Malibu when he was 16; this was his first time back to B.C. The crowd
sang along with ‘Give Me Your Eyes,’ which won the Dove for Song of the Year.
The stadium erupted with applause when 17-year Christian rock veterans Third Day
hit the stage.
Their set had a perfect mix of current favourites, like ‘This is Who I Am’ and ‘Revelation’; a blast from their past with 1995’s ‘Thief’; and moments of worship on songs like ‘Cry Out to Jesus’ and ‘God of Wonders.’
A highlight for everyone with seats at the back of the arena was when they
performed an acoustic set on a small stage at the far end of the floor seats.
Also in the area last month was Jeremy Camp, playing to a nearly packed Abbotsford Pentecostal Church May 1.
The crowd were also treated to the music of two B.C. musicians: Juno Award
winner Greg Sczebel; and Brenda Janz, backed by Brian Doerksen and his band.
