VACATIONS are the time when folks get away from it all.
We need to escape our everyday pressures, and so we plan a trip or activities
that are different from our usual realities.
Traditionally, Christian vacation or travel has meant a pilgrimage or tour to a
holy place; but the last few decades have seen Christian travel expand to many
new areas.
You can now use your leisure time to assist in service projects or evangelistic
outreach. Short-term missions are no longer just the domain of youth groups and
retirees. You can book a vacation to an exotic location – and while you are there, you can spend a few days working in an orphanage,
assisting in a building project or feeding the poor.

Christian singles can cruise the Caribbean on a chartered boat, with
entertainment provided by contemporary Christian artists. If Southern Gospel is
your thing, you’ll probably be found at the week-long National Quartet Convention in Louisville,
Kentucky. Families can go to Christian theme parks like Holy Land Experience or
WordSpring Discovery Center in Orlando, Florida.
A quick weekend down to Anaheim’s Crystal Cathedral in December will allow you to take in the spectacular Glory
of Christmas, and a summer week of camping at a Creation Festival will get your
teen’s faith soaring.
And that Holy Land tour need not mean the exhausting flights and early morning
buses of the past. Now you can visit the lands of the Bible from the comfort of
cruise ships.
Let your vacation be the most physically relaxing, soul-satisfying and
faith-enriching experience it can be by exploring the many options of Christian
travel.
