SPURRED by the premise that “there’s way
more power in blessing than in cursing,” a crowd of more than 250
enthusiastic, joy-filled Christians joined together on the grounds of the
B.C. Parliament Buildings June 8 for PrayBC.
Often a location of protest rallies and anti-government
rhetoric, this time the sun-drenched legislature lawn was covered with
sounds of worship and people offering prayers of blessing upon government
leaders and ministries.
The prayers encompassed our province’s
educational system, her families, the business community, justice, military
and protection services and those involved in the arts and media.
PrayBC was born out of the vision of Tim Schindel,
founder and president of Leading Influence Ministries.
With freshness, optimism, vitality, and a strong sense
of divine calling, Schindel maintains that the church should be “a
source of encouragement, hope and blessing to those who have been called to
serve our nation in the political arena.”
Besides the main event which took place in Victoria,
PrayBC rallies were held in New Westminster, Armstrong and Fort St. John.
Local churches in Cranbrook, Kamloops and Courtenay also joined the
initiative.
Schindel believes PrayBC will not only become an annual
event, but will also be a starting point for building a prayer network
spanning our province and covering it throughout the year.

To mark the 150th birthday of British Columbia, PrayBC
started out with a simple question: “What if the church in B.C.
came together to celebrate 150 years of blessing, and to pray all across
our province with the same focus and the same purpose?”
We may never know, this side of heaven, the full extent
of the answer to that question. But when normally stoical parliament
building security guards plead, “Please come back!” you know
something special is in the works.
