WHEN Michael W. Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman take the stage July 26, it will likely be the first sold out concert in the new Abbotsford
Sports and Entertainment Complex.
Not surprising, considering these two veterans of Christian music have a
combined, staggering total of 44 number one hits and 90 Dove Awards.
And if that isn’t enough for one evening, the concert will also feature recording artist Geoff
Moore; and Abbotsford’s own Brian Doerksen. It should be an unforgettable event.
Smith and Chapman will also headline Heartland Kelowna July 25, a
family-friendly event in an extraordinary outdoor venue (heartlandkelowna.ca).
If you miss out on seeing Smith in concert, the next best thing to being there
is his latest release.
A New Hallelujah does a great job capturing an amazing evening of worship. On June 20, 2008, some
12,000 voices from every denomination and background united to praise God in Houston.
Smith brought together some great musicians, a 250-voice choir and several
special guests – making for a memorable worship experience.
All of the songs from his CD of the same name are included here, as well as
several extra numbers: ‘Oh Draw Me Lord (Draw Me Near),’ ‘Love is in His Right Hand’ and ‘Siwano’ (featuring the African Children’s Choir).

The title track and ‘When I Think of You’ show us Smith’s heart and passion for worship.
The duet with Israel Houghton, on the inspirational ‘Help is on the Way,’ is one of the highlights of the disk. Other incredible moments include the
pairing of ‘Healing Rain’ with ‘Let it Rain’; and the high energy ‘The River is Rising.’
