Blair Summit speaker
New Life Community Baptist Church in Duncan is one of four churches in British
Columbia which will host a satellite Leadership Summit. One key speaker will be
former British prime minister Tony Blair. Set for August 6 – 7, the event is originating at Willow Creek Church in suburban Chicago, and is
coordinated in Canada by The Leadership Centre Willow Creek Canada.
A total of 140 churches throughout North America will be participating. New Life
is the only Island church hosting the summit; the other three B.C.
congregations are Coquitlam Alliance, North Langley Community and Willow Park
in Kelowna.
Info for Island registration in the event is available at 250.748.6521.
Opperman at Lambrick
Lambrick Park Church is welcoming Bob and Terry Opperman to their congregation
as of July 7, when Bob will assume the role of lead pastor for the morning
congregation. Meanwhile, James Prette, who has been serving as interim morning pastor, will
return to splitting his time between Lambrick and Young Life, with which he has
long been connected.
The Lambrick Park website indicates that Opperman and Prette are working
together to make for a smooth transition.

Pastor-nurse team
St. Andrew’s Presbyterian in Duncan has an interesting husband-and-wife ministry
arrangement.
Kerry McIntyre has been senior pastor at the church since 1996, after serving
for 10 years at Cooke’s Presbyterian in Chilliwack. Before that, he pastored in Ontario.
Kerry’s wife Jan is the parish nurse. Technically, this is a half-time position – but it apparently often occupies her attention a little more than that. She also
does casual work as a community home care nurse. Jan has held the parish nurse
post for eight years.

Coaches needed
Among the summer activities associated with Oaklands Chapel is a Soccer Camp,
being held every Tuesday at 9 am during July and August. And, like any soccer
camp, they need coaches. There are still some vacancies.
