PM’s pastor in town
Stephen Harper’s one-time pastor, Brent Trask, was the pulpit guest May 16 at Lambrick Park
Church in Victoria.
Trask, senior minister at Rock Pointe Church in Calgary, filled the role of
pastor to the now-prime minister – before Harper became, consecutively, leader of the Canadian Alliance and
Conservative parties, and linked up with an Ottawa area Alliance Church.
During his Lambrick visit, according to the church website, Trask spent some
time “unpacking Micah 6: What does God require of my life and yours?”

Flying the Eagle
On Eagles’ Wings, a Nanaimo ‘street level’ church featured in a recent Nanaimo Daily News story, is growing nicely – according to the website of its sponsoring congregation, Maranatha Foursquare
Church.
The church started in 2006 under the leadership of pastor Christina Dawson.
Originally from Nanaimo, Dawson spent some time with her family in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. After getting caught up in the local drug scene, she came
to faith through a Foursquare pastor in the area – and eventually became an ordained minister herself.
Services occur each Sunday at 3 pm, at 630 Nichol Street. Wednesdays, ‘Hot Dog’ nights begin at 6 pm. Info: maranathachurch.ca.
