MANY CHRISTIAN secondary schools in Canada
belong to CHEC (Christian Higher Education Canada).
The organization sponsors an annual Christian College
and University Fairs (CCUFairs) tour of Canada.
Now in its ninth year, CCUFairs represents the largest
and most comprehensive Christian higher education initiative in the
country.
At every one-day fair, institutions set up
exhibition style booths, and have people on hand to to answer
questions about their school and offer details about education
programs to pros- pective students.
At press time, more than 25 Christian colleges and
universities had reserved booths at the CCUFairs.
The fair also provides information sessions on
financing post-secondary education.
This year, attendees can win a $1,000 scholarship for
any college or university, simply by showing up at the fair.
For the first time, this year’s fair features
a speaker series. Canadafire leader Darian Kovacs is speaking at all
B.C. events.
CHEC is a non-profit association affiliated with the
Evangelical Fellowship of Canada. Its mission is to represent a broad range
of Christian colleges and universities across Canada.
CHEC fosters institutional cooperation while promoting
public awareness of the value of a Christian higher education in Canada.
At Christian post-secondary institutions, students
have an opportunity not only to grow educationally, but also to
express their faith and√integrate it into their everyday lives.
With chapel, Bible classes and short term missions,
life at a Christian college can be much more than just an educational
experience.
“Post–secondary education is far more than
just a rite of passage. The skills acquired during these four years will
net considerable returns on your investment in both salary and breadth of
job opportunities,” said Jeff Suderman of Trinity Western University.
