GORDON Hohensee is about to become Kamloops Christian School’s new leader.
He is a veteran teacher, and holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Trinity Western University. But it was
his “way of looking at things Christianly” that struck the board when they interviewed him, said board chair Peter Coxon. “He centres education around the Bible.”
Christian education is Hohensee’s passion.
“It’s only from a biblical perspective that we can make truthful sense of the world
around us,” he said. “That includes every subject kids study. God created all these things, and he
actively sustains the laws that allow them to function and be studied.
Education that views the world through this lens helps children understand it.”

The principalship became vacant earlier this year when Karen Chupa left to work
with Impact Ministries in Guatemala. She is the school’s third principal to relocate to Guatemala – bringing the total to 50 percent of all KCS principals (see lead story).
Hohensee acknowledged this legacy, and said he is excited to join a school with
a heart for missions. However, he said, his involvement would have to be
limited for the time being, for practical reasons.
“I’d love to participate in a missions trip to Guatemala with KCS at some point in
the future. Quite honestly, however, I cannot see my family making a move
there. At this point, I just don’t see foreign missions as my calling.”
