Hird leading renewal
mission
Ed Hird, author of the award-winning Battle for the Soul of Canada, is set to
lead a renewal mission October 26 – 28 at historic Church of Our
Lord, 626 Blanshard Street in Victoria. The theme of the mission is
‘Healing the Whole Person: Building faith and healing into our whole
lives.’ Hird is best known, currently, for his involvement in the
Anglican Coalition in Canada, where he is communication director. The
church where he is rector, St. Simon’s in North Vancouver, is part of
the coalition, which is working for acceptance of traditional marriage

Shroud explored
Philip Wiebe, philosophy professor at Trinity Western
University, will be among the presenters, October 10 –16, at an
exhibit and international symposium on the history, science and
significance of the Shroud of Turin, to be held at St. Peter’s
Catholic Church in Nanaimo. Entitled ‘The Man of the Shroud,’
the symposium will include Passion and Last Supper Artifacts. Among the
other presenters is Barry Schwortz, editor and publisher of the Shroud of

Mustard Seed busy
People interested in keeping connected with the Mustard
Seed Church in Victoria might want to take note of several events involving
the Seed, between now and the end of the year. They include: World
Chef’s Day at the Bay Centre (October 20); Christmas Community Dinner
at the Bay Street Armouries (December 2); CBC Day – Live
broadcast from the Bay Centre, with auction and entertainment (December 7);
Ships lighting at CFB Naden (December 13 – 24). More info to be found

DivorceCare starting
Emmanuel Baptist Church, adjacent to UVic at 2121 Cedar
Hill Cross Road, is the site of a DivorceCare program running for 13 weeks
on Thursdays at 7 pm, beginning October 25. Based on a program used in
churches throughout North America, DivorceCare is a seminar and support
group for people who are separated or divorced. Info at Emmanuel Baptist at

Healing from Argentina
Andres Bisonni, a native of Argentina who left medical
school in Texas to become a healing evangelist after “an encounter
with the Holy Spirit,” will be at Aaron House Christian Fellowship
(next to Liquidation World) in the Comox Valley, October 5 – 7. Info

Friday’s Cry outreach
According to their website, Duncan-based rockers
Friday’s Cry hope to “be used of God to reach as many people as
we can in our lifetime.” They will once again put that mandate
into action as one of the featured acts at the Canadian Gospel Music
Association Awards, October 24 – 26 in Calgary. Their most recent
release is an EP featuring original compositions, and Keith Green’s
