Christian radio in Okanagan?

On June 4, CHRV-FM submitted an application with the CRTC for a new Christian radio service aimed at Okanagan residents. The application was heard by the CRTC October 30, along with several others.

CHRV promises a wide variety of Christian music including Contemporary Christian, Praise and Worship and Southern Gospel, as well as children’s and youth-oriented programming.

CHRV would not be tied to any particular church and promises to be a resource for Christians from a variety of age groups, background, ethnicity and denominations.

CHRV-FM is seeking support with a letter that can be sent from their website. Contact: www.in-house.ca/CHRV.html.

The House

November 4 at 10 am is the launch time of a new satellite. As it happens, however, there will be no blast into space. This particular launch marks the opening of ‘The House,’ a satellite ministry of Evangel Church – intended to serve the Airport/University and North Kelowna neighbourhoods. Clark and Atkinson are lead pastors respectively of The Feast (Kamloops) and River of Life (Lethbridge) community churches. GMTC is a ministry of Kelowna Christian Centre.

Teen Challenge delivers

Starting this month, B.C. Teen Challenge personnel will deliver BC Christian News to churches and businesses in the Thompson-Okanagan region.

The ministry will also deliver other Christian Info Society publications, including Options and In the World.

Teen Challenge offers young men and women, ages 19 to 45, freedom from drug and alcohol dependency.

Based on Christian principles and funded entirely through donations, the program provides spiritual, academic and vocational training, equipping people to return to society as responsible individuals.

With its head office in Langley, Teen Challenge operates men’s residential rehabilitation programs in Winfield, as well as in Yarrow, in the Fraser Valley. There is also a women’s centre in Abbotsford.

For more information on B.C. Teen Challenge, see the testimony on page 3 of the main section, as well as their ad on page 10.

The ministry will provide a full advertorial page in all upcoming issues of BCCN.      – Lloyd Mackey
