WHILE SOME were rolling their eyes at Christmas
decorations for sale in stores well before Halloween, organizers at Trinity
Western University were in the thick of things, gearing up for the third
annual Spirit of Christmas and the thousands of visitors the event will
draw on November 28 – 29.
In its first year, the Spirit of Christmas saw nearly
4,000 visitors participate in the festivities, and last year close to
10,000 guests made their way to the Langley campus.
Event producer Michael Wipf said, “With the
success of last year’s Spirit of Christmas celebration, we are
planning this year’s event with family as a key focus. We are pulling
together an array of family entertainment, new surprises, new groups and
more family-oriented activities than ever before,” he said.
And this year the Christian university will once again
receive a helping hand from Great West Life.
The insurance company has agreed to be title sponsor
of the event for 2008 and 2009, thus ensuring that the Spirit of Christmas
can continue to thrive, and to be free of charge.
Trinity Western University’s executive director
of business development Andry Tjahyana expressed his appreciation of the
partnership.
“We are very grateful for Great West
Life’s support and continued vision for the Spirit of Christmas. They
share in our goal of offering a great event that can be enjoyed by so many
in our community. Great West Life has been a proud partner with TWU on this
project since it started and we are looking forward to working with them in
the many years to follow.”
