Ring, sing, walk
In the central area of Vancouver Island, several churches have their own unique
programs, but Christmas activities are being publicized on each other’s websites.
One of the best points of reference is the ‘News’ section of the First Baptist, Nanaimo site (fbcnanaimo.ca).
It highlights a Community Carol Sing set for December 5; the annual Singing
Christmas Tree, running December 3 – 12 at ET Family Church; and the Bethlehem Walk, set for December 11 – 14 at Parksville Baptist.
Other celebrations onsite at First Baptist include a December 18 To Africa with
Love concert at 7 pm; and a December 24 Christmas Eve Community Celebration,
with two services, at 6 and 8 pm.
Truth projected
The Truth Project, endorsed by both Christian apologist Ravi Zacharias and Focus
on the Family founder James Dobson, is a video series often run as a community
service by churches.
One Island congregation presently doing the series is Central Free Church, a
Comox Valley group meeting in two Sunday services for worship in the Stan Hagen
Theatre, in North Island College, at the top of Ryan Hill.
The study takes place Thursdays at 7 pm. It is designed to provide a Christian
worldview on cultural, educational and public policy issues to a lay-oriented
audience.

Ready for Advent
At Victoria’s St. Andrew’s Presbyterian, an historic downtown church, scripture study, a bazaar and a
special meal were all part of the November preparations for Advent and
Christmas season. Bible studies titled ‘Exploring the Christmas Story’ occurred November 18 – 25, and December 2.
