PASTORS from across British Columbia will gather in Langley this month to
explore practical ways to reach out to today’s youth.
The event will include planning for a summer music festival in the Fraser Valley
that is expected to attract thousands of young people and adults.
The pastors will meet January 28 for ‘Reaching the Next Generation,’ a conference organized by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA).
The conference will feature Will Graham, grandson of renowned evangelist Billy
Graham, and the assistant director of the Billy Graham Training Centre; as well
as Training Centre leaders Gary Cobb and David Macfarlane.
The BGEA is specifically inviting senior pastors, and their youth pastors, to
Reaching the Next Generation.
The pastors are being encouraged to involve their entire congregations in
learning new and effective ways to reach youth and young families in Canada
today with the saving message of Jesus Christ.
During the conference, scheduled 9 am – 4 pm at Christian Life Assembly in Langley, BGEA will also unveil plans for the
Fraser Valley stop on next summer’s Rock the River Tour West, which will also visit Edmonton and Calgary.
“Rock the River Tour West will be a mix of high-energy, cutting-edge music
performed by Christian artists, and gospel messages from BGEA President
Franklin Graham,” said tour director Art Bailey of the BGEA.
The day-long event – August 7 at Millennium Park in the Cloverdale Fairgrounds – is designed to attract thousands of Christian and non-Christian youths and
young adults, to hear the good news of Jesus Christ in a fun, energetic and
positive environment.
Last August’s first-ever Rock the River Tour included stops in four U.S. cities – including St. Louis and Minneapolis – and attracted more than 100,000 people in total.
