B.C. based author, physician
and activist Gabor Maté | AS INDIA prepares for national elections in April and
May, The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada’s Religious Liberty
Commission has released a report detailing recent religiously motivated
violence in that country.
The 25-page report, Faith
and Freedom Collide in India, looks closely at
tensions between Hindus and Christians that escalated to critical levels
last August, resulting in violence that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh
described as a “national shame.”
The EFC report provides information on developments in
India to date.
It examines the motivation for the violence, provides
accounts of specific examples of persecution and details the limited
government efforts to provide protection for religious minorities.
The report can be accessed at evangelicalfellowship.ca.
