THE North American Institute for Indigenous Theological Studies (NAIITS) is
hosting ‘Symposium on Indigenous Theology and Mission,’ June 4 – 6 at Trinity Western University in Langley.
The Institute brings theologians, missiologists, anthropologists and mission
practitioners together with pastors and leaders in Native ministry for the
purpose of dialogue.
The goal is to mentor and train aboriginal leaders in the area of contextualized
evangelical missions.
The proceedings are later published in the Journal of the North American Institute for Indigenous Theological Studies.
The Institute is based in Winnipeg, but the annual symposiums are held in
various academic settings around North America.
The theme of this sixth symposium is ‘Indigenous Church: Expressions of Community.’
The conference will kick off with a dialogue between Brian McLaren, ‘emerging church’ theorist, and Terry LeBlanc, national ministries director with My People
International.
