TIM ROWE represents Fusion – a partner with MTG. Fusion is a unique ministry source that helps churches,
clusters of churches, or any other agency, to put on street parties.
BCCN: Exactly what is a ‘Festival in a Box’ – the ministry help you offer? How much could it cost?
Tim Rowe: We are selling Festivals in a Box for $150. In the box are the basics you need to get started – DVDs to help you know all that you need to know, balloons and pumps, a giant
beach ball, a face-painting resource, spinning plates, Chinese yo-yos and much
more.
BCCN: I understand four to six festivals are planned for Vancouver toward the actual
time of the games? Can you tell us something about them?
Rowe: Actually, we expect a whole lot more will occur. And the special thing is we’re going to be doing Open Crowd Festivals across Canada in a number of cities
and towns and using the games as an excuse to build lasting connections and
networks.
As we move toward the Olympic ‘moment,’ we have festivals in four communities planned for Canada Day, and then will
build to having festivals in additional communities on Thanksgiving Day, and
then once again after that.
We’re excited about the way in which the games are just one piece of the puzzle. It’s what happens after the games that will be the test of how successful we are.

BCCN: Can you paint a picture of an actual festival local churches collaborating
together have done?
Rowe: We had an Easter Festival just last month in Mount Pleasant where three
different churches worked together to host it in Robson Park. Open Crowd
Festivals have a variety of activities that help engage the local community,
such as face painting, balloon sculpting, giant games of tug-of-war and other
games that engage whole communities.
BCCN: How can a church contact you?
Rowe: Email vancouver@fusioncanada.ca, or call the office cell phone at 778.319.4391.
