New media
Canadians access the internet in vast numbers, with an
increasing contingent (those under 30) having grown up with the web.
This all affects our expectation of being able to
instantly access information and entertainment.
We no longer have to wait for a show time or be in
front of a TV. WIFI with handhelds, 3G smart phone internet access, coupled
with podcasting and streaming media, mean we can now listen, watch and read what we want, when we want,
where we want – with no delay!

Although having had a web presence for 10 years, in
April 2007, Christian Info Society redesigned canadianchristianity.com
completely.
The thinking – keeping in mind the need to be
commercially viable – was that, if we have valuable information, (and
we certainly believe we do!), getting ‘eyeballs on our stuff’
is more important than the ‘delivery system,’ be it print or
screen.
Free digital versions of all print media, including BC Christian News were
implemented in this second generation design.
Over 20 new features
This month we are pleased to announce a further major
upgrade.
‘Version 3.0’ contains over 20 additions,
along with numerous improvements to help you access a wealth of faith-based
Canadian news and resources.
New features include:
Online KOINOS
Certificate in Christian Foundations – with six audio lectures every
month from teachers such as previous Regent College profs Ward Gasque and
Carl Armerding.
Full site-wide
menu access to all print media.

Editorial team
Many media outlets simply gather news pieces; Christian
Info Society has a team of experienced editors/writers who report on
current events from a Christian perspective. We also access insightful
writers, those who bring understanding, grace and faith to a wide range of
issues.
Along with our regular columnists, we have a host of
gifted contributors such as Mike Mason, Mark Buchanan, Andy Park, Rob Des
Cotes, Marja Bergen and Barry Buzza.
For the future we are
moving towards the upload of citizen journalism and ideas, and expect an
increase in new media streaming of audio/video – all implemented with
great patience by our gifted webmaster Jerram Ritchie.
Peter Biggs is the web architect for
www.canadianchristianity.com as well as an associate editor for site
content.
